So as you guys know, I found the opener to this series great. There was enough mystery surrounding the whole situation to keep me intrigued and into the story. Like most of the story part 2 is written by Bendis, for me a bit of a hit and miss writer as mentioned before with his previous stories.
So it opens with the Uncanny X-Men (double take, what book am I reading?) trying to make sense of the entire situation, with the whole strange situation that happened in Battle of the Atom #1 everyone is a bit miffed as to where to go and what to do next. Whereas cut to the All-New X-Men/Wolverine's X-Men, something odd is cropping up.
Deadpool exacerbates the situation by trying to get all up close and personal with Wolverine (Wolverine doesn't like being kissed by Deadpool - take note), but while it's all happening Jean Grey "tries" to read the future "X-Men"'s minds, which she's being psychic blocked. So, telling Cyclops they bolt. Getting out of there fast, and who can blame them? Some strange people turn up, can't be sure whether to trust them or not and they're blocking any telepathy? Strange.
It all moves quite slowly in this book, there isn't a massive amount of story progression, it's really just a book about the X-Men of the now not liking the look of the X-Men of the future and everyone just not getting along as well as they should. The best thing about this issue was the reveal towards the end, I wasn't expecting that (go read it to find out more..).
I can only assume in Part 3 they will be after Jean Grey and young Cyclops as soon as possible. Especially if they decide to trust the "future X-Men".*
My rating:
7/10 - Lack of story progression and pace really let this one down. But there is still enough there to get me into it and wanting more, mainly due to the reveal at the end.
